Ms. Punitha Thanaraju is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She began her career in education at 21 and now, at 33, has 12 years of teaching experience. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, majoring in TESL (Teaching English for Secondary Learners), from Segi University, Malaysia, in partnership with the University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth, UK. Subsequently, she pursued a Master’s Degree in English Education at the University of Malaya, one of Malaysia’s oldest and highest-ranking public institutions, graduating in 2019.
Ms. Punitha’s passion for teaching goes beyond a profession; it is a heartfelt calling. Throughout her career, she has worked in Malaysian public, private, and international schools, gaining valuable experience in diverse cultural settings and various education systems. In 2021, she was granted the Best Mentor Award, recognizing her exceptional dedication and mentorship.
Currently, Ms. Punitha is pursuing a doctoral degree in English Education at the University of Malaya. She aims to continue her commitment to community service with a renewed focus and broader impact, particularly in creating political awareness among the public. Her efforts include educating the community about the political system, voting rights, and civic responsibilities through workshops designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to actively participate in the democratic process.
